Add label parameter to PublishTransaction in WalletController
interface. A labels package is added to store generic labels that are
used for the different types of transactions that are published by lnd.
To keep commit size down, the two endpoints that require a label
parameter be passed down have a todo added, which will be removed in
subsequent commits.
The logger string used to identify the wtclient and wtclientrpc loggers
was the same, leading to being unable to modify the log level of the
wtclient logger as it would be overwritten with the wtclientrpc's one.
To simplify things, we decide to use the existing RPC logger for
wtclientrpc.
Add start and end height parameters to the rpc and cli GetTransactions
endpoints. Default to returning all transactions from genesis to tip,
including unconfirmed transactions to maintain backwards compatibility.
This is a preparation for enabling the REST interface on routerrpc.
It provides REST clients that don't support server-side streaming
via keep-alive connections to use the streaming endpoint in the
typical request/response pattern. The url just needs to contain
?no_inflight_updates=true and only the terminal response is sent
back before the connection is closed.
In this commit, we move to clamp down somewhat on the max invoice size
after the limit was removed as part of the mpp changes. In #4210, it was
reported that a value of -1, would underflow and end up as 18 million
BTC, which would trip checks w.r.t the max expressible value in mSAT.
In this commit, we clamp things down to 100k BTC, which should be more
than enough for anybody.
Fixes#4210.
The message in the response stream changed. Rename the calls themselves,
to prevent older applications from getting decode errors. Especially
troublesome is the case where the request is executed (send payment),
but the application can't read the outcome (payment sent or not?)
This commit introduces a new test case that asserts all of the witness
size constants currently in the codebase. We also reintroduce the
AcceptedHtlcSuccessWitnessSize and OfferedHtlcTimeoutWitnessSize
constants that were recently removed for the sake of completeness.
In asserting the witnes sizes, there were three uncovered discrepancies:
* OfferedHtlcSuccessWitnessSize overestimated by about 30% because it
included an extra signature in the calculation.
* ToLocalPenaltyWitnessSize was underestimated by one byte, because it
was missing the length byte for the OP_TRUE. This has implications
the watchtower protocol since the client and server are assumed to
share the same weight estimates used for signing. This commit keeps
the current behavior, with the intention of rolling out negotiation
for which weight estimate to use for a given session.
* AcceptedHtlcScriptSize was underestimated by one byte because it was
missing a length byte for the value 32 pushed on the stack when
asserting the preimage's length. This affects all AcceptedHtlc*
witness sizes.
In this commit, we remove the restriction surrounding the largest
invoices that we'll allow a user to create. After #3967 has landed,
users will be able to send in _aggregate_ a payment larger than the
current max HTLC size limit in the network. As a result, we can just
treat that value as the system's MTU, and allow users to request
payments it multiples of that MTU value.
A follow up to this PR at a later time will also allow wumbo _channels_.
However, that requires us to tweak the way we scale CSV values, as post
wumbo, there is no true channel size limit, only the
_local_ limit of a given node. We also need to implement a way for nodes
to signal to other nodes their accepted max channel size.
Modifies the payment session to launch additional pathfinding attempts
for lower amounts. If a single shot payment isn't possible, the goal is
to try to complete the payment using multiple htlcs. In previous
commits, the payment lifecycle has been prepared to deal with
partial-amount routes returned from the payment session. It will query
for additional shards if needed.
Additionally a new rpc payment parameter is added that controls the
maximum number of shards that will be used for the payment.
This commit fixes the inconsistency between the payment state as
reported by routerrpc.SendPayment/routerrpc.TrackPayment and the main
rpc ListPayments call.
In addition to that, payment state changes are now sent out for every
state change. This opens the door to user interfaces giving more
feedback to the user about the payment process. This is especially
interesting for multi-part payments.
Changes the grpc proto file, generates the protobuf, and
enables a queried way to retrieve payments in the rpc, where
backward compatibility is enforced by returning all payments
in the database by default. Adds a payment index field to
the returned payments of the rpc call.
Update the PendingChannel message from a bool to an enum to
differentiate between the case where the remote party initiated the
channel and we have no record of the channel initiator. The previous
field has not been included in a release of lnd, so we can replace the
field directly.
Move enum out of CloseSummary struct for more general use. This does
not change the encoding of the enum, and will only cause compile time
errors for existing clients. This enum has not been included in a
release yet, so we can make this move without much disruption.
There is an alternative in routerrpc now. It doesn't support REST yet,
but the main rpc SendPayment with its bidirectional streaming isn't
usable via REST either.
SendPaymentSync still serves REST users and cannot be deprecated yet.
This commit extends the RPC interface with GetNodeMetrics will contain
all graph node metrics in the future. Currently only holds betweennes
centrality per node.
The pending closing channels field was present to cover an edge case
where coperatively closed channels were closed before upgrade and
confirmed after the upgrade. This commit deprecates the field and adds
a warning log to cover these edge cases.
Exclusive group is a static property that doesn't need to be updated.
Requiring the exclusive group to be passed into UpdateParams creates a
burden for the caller to make sure they supply the existing group.
This change will be beneficial for users that bump anchor sweeps that
have exclusive groups set.
This change adds a set of errors to the peer struct returned by list
peers. A latest error boolean is added to allow for more succinct
default lncli responses.
We now use the jsonpb marshaler to convert the RPC responses to
JSON in lncli and REST. The jsonpb has a setting to use the
original name as defined in the proto file and the explicit
json_name definition is not necessary any more.
The jsonpb setting is called OrigName and needs to be true.

This commit adds each channel's short chan id to the `feereport` rpc.
Without this, it can be tedious to lookup more info about a particular
channel since most rpcs only accept short chan ids and not channel
points. For instance, now one can take a channel id from `feereport` and
look it up directly via `getchaninfo` to examine the policy in more
detail.
Add an initiator enum which allows up to display an unknown value for
channels that are not in the historical chan bucket, rather than having
and ambiguous false value also representing no-value. A both option is
added to cover the case where both parties initiated a close on chain.
This commit adds PendingOpenChannel to SubscribeChannelEvents stream in
the gRPC API.
This is useful for keeping track of channel openings that Autopilot does.
It can also be used for the non-initator side of a channel opening to keep
track of channel openings.
The default was increased for the main sendpayment RPC in commit
d3fa9767a9729756bab9b4a1121344b265410b1a. This commit sets the
same default for QueryRoutes, routerrpc.SendPayment and
router.EstimateRouteFee.
Update the type check used for checking local payment
failures to check on the ClearTextError interface rather
than on the ForwardingError type. This change prepares
for splitting payment errors up into Link and Forwarding
errors.
This commit adds a ClearTextError interface
which is implemented by non-opaque errors that
we know the underlying wire failure message for.
This interface is implemented by ForwardingErrors,
because we can fully decrypt the onion blob to
obtain the underlying failure reason. This interface
will also be implemented by errors which originate
at our node in following commits, because we know
the failure reason when we fail the htlc.
The lnwire interface is un-embedded in the
ForwardingError struct in favour of implementing
this interface. This change is made to protect
against accidental passing of a ForwardingError
to the wire, where the embedded FailureMessage
interface will present as wire failure but
will not serialize properly.
Previously only the fee rate used for the last sweep (the sweep bucket
average) was reported. This commit adds the request fee preference to
the report, which is used to select a bucket and the sweep tx fee rate.
With this commit we add the ability to create a shared DH key by using
a custom node private key instead of the node's identity private key.
If no key locator is specified the node's identity private key will be
used as a fallback.
In this commit, we start to expose some of the new external funding
functionality over the RPC interface.
First, we add a new `funding_shim` field to the regular `OpenChannel`
method. This can be used by a caller to express that certain parameters
of the funding flow have already been negotiated outside the protocol,
and should be used instead. For example, a shim can be provided to use a
particular key for the commitment key (ideally cold) rather than use one
this is generated by the wallet as normal, or signal that signing will
be carried out in an interactive manner (PSBT based).
Next, we add a brand new method: `FundingStateStep`. FundingStateStep is
an advanced funding related call that allows the caller to either
execute some preparatory steps for a funding workflow, or manually
progress a funding workflow. The primary way a funding flow is
identified is via its pending channel ID. As an example, this method can
be used to specify that we're expecting a funding flow for a particular
pending channel ID, for which we need to use specific parameters.
Alternatively, this can be used to interactively drive PSBT signing for
funding for partially complete funding transactions.
The new transition methods (funding state machine modifiers) in this
commit allow a party to register a funding intent that should be used
for a specified incoming pending channel ID. The "responder" to the
external channel flow should use this to prep lnd to be able to handle
the channel flow properly.
This commits builds on top of PR #3694 to further clarify invoice
state by defining pending invoices as the ones which are not
settled or canceled. Automatic cancellation of expired invoices
makes this possbile. While this change only directly affects
ChannelDB, users of the listinvoices RPC will receive actual
pending invoices when pending_only flag is set.
In the process, we also move the feature serialization into the
invoicesrpc package, so that it can be shared between the invoicesrpc
and main rpcserver.
This commit prepares for more manipulation of custom records. A list of
tlv.Record types is more difficult to use than the more basic
map[uint64][]byte.
Furthermore fields and variables are renamed to make them more
consistent.
To allow signing of messages with any key in the key chain
we add two new methods to the signer RPC. These behave differently
to the methods with the same name in the main RPC as described
in the documentation comment.
In this commit, we add `msats` to the return value of `DecodePayReq` to
ensure we always show full value information as we're moving to do
generally for all RPC calls that deal with off-chain amounts.
This commit modifies Lighting.AddInvoice and InvoicesRPC.AddHoldInvoice
to include the node's supported feature bits on the invoice. For now
this only includes the optional TLV Onion Payload bit.
In this commitment, we make the `SendToRoute` RPC call consistent with
all the other payment RPCs which will properly adhere to the current max
payment sat limit. This is a prep commit for the future wumbo soft cap
that will eventually land in lnd.
This commit restructures an invoice's ContractTerms to better encompass
the restrictions placed on settling. For instance, the final ctlv delta
and invoice expiry are moved from the main invoice body (where
additional metadata is stored). Additionally, it moves the State field
outside of the terms since it is rather metadata about the invoice
instead of any terms offered to the sender in the payment request.
This commit modifies the FetchPayment method to return MPPayment structs
converted from the legacy on-disk format. This allows us to attach the
HTLCs to the events given to clients subscribing to the outcome of an
HTLC.
This commit also bubbles up to the routerrpc/router_server, by
populating HTLCAttempts in the response and extracting the legacy route
field from the HTLCAttempts.
With this PR we deprecate fields that have been specifically added to
to work around a bug in the gRPC/REST gateway that didn't allow bytes
fields to be encoded in REST requests.
That bug has now been fixed so the fields are no longer required.
To make it more clear how bytes fields have to be used in REST,
comments have been added to all those fields.
This commit parses mpp_total_amt_msat and mpp_payment_addr from the
SendToRoute rpc and populates an MPP record on the internal hop
reprsentation. When the router goes to encode the onion packet, these
fields will be serialized for the destination. We also populate the mpp
fields when marshalling routes in rpc responses.
This commit add mpp_total_amt_msat and mpp_payment_addr to the Hop
message. Doing so enables users submitting mpp payments via rpc to
set these parameters for the destination. In addition, it will allow us
to display these fields in rpc responses.
In this commit, we create a new chainfee package, that houses all fee
related functionality used within the codebase. The creation of this new
package furthers our long-term goal of extracting functionality from the
bloated `lnwallet` package into new distinct packages. Additionally,
this new packages resolves a class of import cycle that could arise if a
new package that was imported by something in `lnwallet` wanted to use
the existing fee related functions in the prior `lnwallet` package.
Probabilities are no longer returned for querymc calls. To still provide
some insight into the mission control internals, this commit adds a new
rpc that calculates a success probability estimate for a specific node
pair and amount.
With a separate proto message, it becomes possible to also return the
pair data for a single pair. This prepares for the new mc probability
querying rpc.
This commit adds the total observed lifetime of a channel and the
totaluptime of its remote peer to the lnrpc channel struct. These
fields are marked as experimential because they are subject to
change.
This commit changes mission control to partially base the estimated
probability for untried connections on historical results obtained in
previous payment attempts. This incentivizes routing nodes to keep all
of their channels in good shape.
Probability estimates are amount dependent. Previously we assumed an
amount, but that starts to make less sense when we make probability more
dependent on amounts in the future.
This sets the `jstype` option to `JS_STRING` for all `chan_id` fields
in the proto rpc definition. `chan_id` is a 64 bit integer, which is
not natively supported by javascript's floating-point `number` with
only 52 bit precision. Nevertheless, by default protobuf will use the
`number` type for 64 bit integer fields in javascript, which can cause
loss of precision problems with `chan_id`. Explicitly setting the type
for javascript as a string will prevent these issues, and should not
interfere with its use as an identifier.
With the introduction of the max CLTV limit parameter, nodes are able to
reject HTLCs that exceed it. This should also be applied to path
finding, otherwise HTLCs crafted by the same node that exceed it never
left the switch. This wasn't a big deal since the previous max CLTV
limit was ~5000 blocks. Once it was lowered to 1008, the issue became
more apparent. Therefore, all of our path finding attempts now have a
restriction of said limit in in order to properly carry out HTLCs to the
network.
In order to prevent future unforeseen issues, we are temporarily
disabling the ability to send custom tlv records to the receiver of a
payment. Currently the receiver does not process or expose these
additional fields via rpc or internally, so they are being disabled
until the end-to-end flow is finished and fully validated.
Extends the invalid payment details failure with the new accept height
field. This allows sender to distinguish between a genuine invalid
details situation and a delay caused by intermediate nodes.
This commit adds a set of htlcs to the Invoice struct and
serializes/deserializes this set to/from disk. It is a preparation for
accurate invoice accounting across restarts of lnd.
A migration is added for the invoice htlcs.
In addition to these changes, separate final cltv delta and expiry
invoice fields are created and populated. Previously it was required
to decode this from the stored payment request. The reason to create
a combined commit is to prevent multiple migrations.
This commit modifies paymentLifecycle so that it not only feeds
failures into mission control, but successes as well.
This allows for more accurate probability estimates. Previously,
the success probability for a successful pair and a pair with
no history was equal. There was no force that pushed towards
previously successful routes.
In this commit, we add a new field to the Hop proto to allow callers to
be able to specify TLV records for the SendToRoute call, and also to be
able to display TLV records that were used during regular path finding.
We also update SendPayment to support dest TLV records.
In this commit, we address an issue that would cause us to scan from the
genesis block for the spend of an output that we wish to use to raise
the fee of a transaction through CPFP. This was due to setting a 0
height hint when constructing the input required by the sweeper and was
discovered due to the recently added validation checks at the chain
notifier level. We'll now use the current height as the height hint
instead as the sweeper will end up creating a new transaction that
spends the input.
Previously mission control tracked failures on a per node, per channel basis.
This commit changes this to tracking on the level of directed node pairs. The goal
of moving to this coarser-grained level is to reduce the number of required
payment attempts without compromising payment reliability.
Align naming better with the lightning spec. Not the full name of the
failure (FailIncorrectOrUnknownPaymentDetails) is used, because this
would cause too many long lines in the code.
